Football Remembers: The 1914 Christmas Truce

This educational resource pack focuses on the games of football played in No Man’s Land in December 1914 and was produced in partnership with the FA, Premier League and Football League.

Containing original accounts and sources for use in the classroom, with activities for cross curricular lessons and projects.

The pack can also be used to by schools and community groups who are planning on playing football matches to commemorate the truce as part of Football Remembers week in December 2014. Clubs from the Premier League, Football Association and Football League will also be participating.

Additionally there is a competition open to schools across the UK to design a memorial to the football truce.

50 designs will be shortlisted and the schools will be invited to take part in a special display at the National Memorial Arboretum this summer.

The winning design will be chosen by a panel of judges including HRH The Duke of Cambridge and footballer Theo Walcott. The design will then be constructed at the National Memorial Arboretum, Staffordshire. This will be unveiled during Football Remembers week in December 2014.
