Letter to an Unknown Soldier

On Platform 1 of Paddington Station there is statue of an Unknown Soldier. The soldier is shown reading a letter, and this is the letter that the 14-18 Now project want you to write.

You can read letters other have already written, including those by Stephen Fry and Malorie Blackman.

The website is open until 11 pm 4th August 2014, the centenary of the moment when the Prime Minister Asquith announced that Britain was at war. Between now and then every letter that the soldier receives will be published on the website and made available for everyone to read.

The British Library will archive all of the letters and they will also remain permanently accessible online.

The website also contains lesson plans and resources for secondary and further education as well as resources for writing groups.
